A story worth telling.

Along the way, our story includes some truly remarkable moments — a pastor whose Bible stopped an assassin's bullet, a women's college founded right here in Blairsville, a beloved carillon whose bells first rang out on the Fourth of July, and generations of faithful people who gave their lives to serving God and neighbors.

Our Story: Faith, Community, and Two Churches Becoming One

Our roots run deep in Blairsville. In 1822, a small group of faithful believers organized the First Presbyterian Church — and from that humble beginning, something remarkable has grown.

Over the decades, two Presbyterian congregations took shape in our town, each serving the community in its own unique way. The First Presbyterian Church built the beautiful sanctuary you see today, dedicated in 1882 and still standing as a testament to the faith of those who came before us. Meanwhile, a second congregation — which eventually became Calvin United Presbyterian Church — thrived just down the road.

In 1969, these two churches did something bold: they became one. The United Presbyterian Church of Blairsville was born from that merger, carrying forward two rich legacies of worship, mission, and community service.

Today, that same spirit is alive and well. We are a congregation committed to worship, mission, education, and genuine community — and we'd love for you to be part of our story.

Come as you are. You belong here.
